Inside Banksy’s Dismaland: a dystopian theme park

Banksy’s “family theme park unsuitable for small children” has opened on the Weston-super-Mare seafront. It features migrant boats, dead princesses and Banksy’s trademark dark humour.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy went to see if Dismaland lives up to its gloomy name.

  1. It rumoured that the Cinderella piece is in reference to Princess Diana's death and it might as well be but with all due respect to her and her family, I really appreciate the piece because even though it looks disheartening to look at, it shows real, invasive unthinkable, murderous capability of the paparazzi which makes me think that it should be THEIR nature should be made lifeless by at least some celebrities that are smart enough to kill them with ignorance even though their jobs involve a camera in the first place. I believe that Diana, because she was too young when she became the Princess of Wales that she wasn't given any advice before marrying Charles so one would understand the pressures which drove the Wonderful soul of the UK mad beyond her control. I would even still question the dark elements of fame and I think that anyone becoming newly famous would need to get together with their teams and make some strong decisions in dealing with the media because they control you with lies until the day you die.

  2. Love Banksy. 80% of the world's population live in poverty, 4.8 billion people. The rest of us feast on the garbage of delusions and waste, and it's yummy even with my occasional meaningless belly aching.

  3. No thanks..I would rather do what I can about the reality I have to face everyday…yes it includes refugees, violence, unfair treatment and sadly a lot of ignorance and things looking pretty grim. On the other side of the coin, miracles do happen, and there are kind and loving people still left in the world. I will focus on that.

  4. this looks creepy…                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      I WANNA GOOOOOOO

  5. All these people saying crap like "this is reality". haha, people its about perspective you wanna look at the world in a Nietzchean existential-esque way, go ahead. Doesn't mean your perspective is objective it's just pessimistic. nothing wrong with being a pessimist (accept for the paradox of expressing that philosophy); the place looks like good fun but in no way does it taint Disneyland.

  6. gee…why not have the "refugees" aka illegals come to your home? They don't have a job but always find a way to get guns to shoot people. The very people they want to pay all their bills.

  7. Banksys association with current batch of artists is an attempt to ensure a greater commercial value of his work allowing him to compete with questionable works / artists (made by Saatchi) Jeff Koons, Damien Hirst / others.
