Life in the poorest city in the US – BBC News Video News

In the tiny city of Escobares, Texas, 62% of residents live below the poverty line.

That’s the highest rate of any US city with more than 1,000 people, according to the 2016 US Census Bureau survey.

Directly on the US-Mexico border, the city struggles with crime and unemployment.

But local officials say they’re trying hard to lift Escobares out of the cycle of poverty.

  1. You can open up good Mexican cafes for all the security people make quality good food. Food is a wonderful economy. Homemade tamales tortillas ect, it has to be the best simple and healthy. Little by little your community will grow because you have great healthy natural food.

  2. God has given you varieties of food fruit trees and vegetables. Work together as a community. Clean and organize the community. Raise chickens goats and cows and self sustain and open up great homecooked Mexican food pure and natural. Bring all your waste and burn it keep the town clean, work together as one family. Ask Jehovah to give you wisdom and strength and disipline to reach your goals. With Jehovahs blessing all good things are possible. Let everyone know they must be peaceful when they come to the community. Build be creative with old things made of wood steel and stone they can be reused in varieties of ways.

  3. It is not the poorest in US. Many cities and many areas in big cities are same. Many homeless are sleeping under the bridge and die away unnoticed. The amount of fund from US government is about $250 per year for one but more than $200 gets to the companies which operate the fund and less than $50 reach to the needed. Poverty business is blooming but needed peole's lives keep in miserable.

  4. Wonder if the Fake News BBC Reporter John Sweeney turned up ? Would John class these people as "Cannibals" or "Space Aliens" as he did the British Working Class ?
